Level 2 – Venice
In this level you are looking for three keys.
As the level begins, you find yourself in an alley. There's a doberman there, so advance carefully, back-flipping as you shoot for safety. In the courtyard ahead, there's a gunman above on a balcony to the right...you can get him by jumping up and down as you shoot. He drops a key which you can get later.
There's another alley to the left...advance down it, taking care of another doberman and a thug wielding a bat as you go. When he falls he drops a medipack.
At the end of the alley is an open building on your right and a canal with a closed boathouse opposite...swim down under the closed doors of the boathouse and climb out to push a button at the end of the wall. Swim back through and climb out at the open building. On the table next to the button are some flares, pick them up and push the button to open the trapdoor. Climb to the next floor and push another button to open the next trapdoor. This takes you to an area near a window to another building. Shoot the glass and keep your pistols draw for another doberman coming from the room on the left.
Once it's dead, shoot out the window opposite the one you just came through and jump over to the red awning. From there you can jump to the balcony with the hitman you shot at the beginning of the level, and take the boathouse key he dropped.
Return to the room the doberman came from and go down the hallway with the glass walls to pull a lever to open a door somewhere outside. Come back along the passage and shoot out the glass of the window in the room and jump over to the red awning opposite. Turn left and jump across the awnings to the door you just opened and pull a lever to open the exit door beneath.
Now you can jump into the water and under the boathouse doors to use the key to open them. Once you've done this, another hitman tries to take you out from the opposite dock...you need to get rid of him as he has some automatic pistols you could use! Swim out and kill him before swimming back to the boathouse and climbing into the boat by standing near it an pressing 'action'.
Steer the boat* through the exit doors find a passage just to the right**. This ledge leads to a passage containing some flares and the Silver Dragon. Go down the ladder (if you want all the kills), killing two rats at the bottom and climb back into the boat. Turn right and steer the boat over a small waterfall, then stop and dive down to retrieve the Gold Dragon from the bottom below the fall.
Take the boat through the water to come to an area with several brick pillars. If you want more ammo, there are two sets of Uzi clips in the water under the area entrance which you can jump out to get. Back in the boat, steer to the far left of the area to reach a short ledge with a ladder at one end and a door set in the wall with a window next to it. To the right of the ladder is a boat-lock . Steer the boat through it and park up. Jump out and swim back to the ledge with the ladder. Climb out and shoot the rat, then shoot out the window to kill the thug that's inside. In the dark alcove to the left of the room are some shotgun shells, pick them up then pull the lever at the other end of the room to raise the water level in the boat-lock. Swim back though to the lock (or climb the ladder and jump in the water) and pull the underwater lever to open the doors to the next area.
Now you'll find yourself in a labyrinth of canals! Turn left, then right and plough through the three gondolas, then go back and climb out onto the ledge on the right to where they were parked. Climb up onto the wooden block and jump and grab the red awning over the canal. You can jump to the bridge from here, but be careful! A doberman and another thug appear from the left, and a gunman from the right! You'll need to dispatch all three before you can continue. The best way to do this is to stand at the edge of the awning, jump forward onto the bridge, then immediately jump back onto the awning as the thug with the bat and the doberman cannot reach you and you can shoot them in safety! The gunman is more difficult, so jump over, turn right and jump around as you shoot to take as little damage as possible. Search the bodies and pick up a large medipack and a steel key. The key opens the door in the roof garden. Once inside, drop down through the opening in the floor and pull down the switch in the room below to open one of two gates. Climb back out to encounter another hitman!*** When he's down, take his ammo.
Back on the bridge, face right and see if you can see another hitman on the dock over to the far left, near another boat. You should be able to get him from where you are. Once Lara has a lock on him, keep 'action' pressed until he falls. He has some goodies, but you'll return here later to retrieve them.
Go back to your boat and climb in, turning round and going back the way you entered, past the boat lock. Around the corner is another ledge with a baddie! Park up, climb out and get rid of him and pick up his medipack and ammo. Climb back into the boad and continue on, turning right at the end to pass under a white, stone bridge and smashing more gondolas. Climb out on the ledge next to where the gondolas were and the door opens to release another thug. Kill him and pinch his medipack. Go through the door, kill two rats then pull the lever in the room to open another door somewhere.
Back in the boat, you can't travel any further down, so turn around and go down the narrow waterway opposite the ledge you just came from. Turn left to come to another ledge to the door you just opened (there are two...you want the second one). As you step onto the ledge, a thug appears on the adjacent ledge, but you can get him later. Go through the doorway and step down into the water to pick up th iron key. The door behind you has closed, so look up to see an opening in the ceiling. Climb up and be prepared for another thug and a doberman. Get rid of them, then pick up a small medipack from the body. Pull the lever to open the wooden shutters. If you stand facing the gap between the shutter and the wall on the right hand side, you should be able to shoot the man you saw earlier on the ledge outside. That's the cowards way, and I'm not ashamed of it! :-)
Get back to your boat and turn around. Go forward, past the drying clothes, then left, then then right, and right again, until you come to the dock with the other boat. (The dock should be on your left now.) Get out and search the hitman you killed earlier, taking his ammo, then use the iron key to open the door. There's another thug inside, so kill him, then pull the switch to open the other gate.
Ok, now here's the reason for the second boat! :-) As you leave the room, stand at the edge of the dock and look left. That is the exit gate, but under the water you can see some floating, black objects...those are mines! You need to get rid of those before you can exit, and you do this with your boat. Back your boat so it's up against the ledge straight opposite the exit gate. Make sure it's facing the exit, then press 'forward' and 'action' to build up speed, jump out as soon as you can and watch the boat blow up the mines! Cool!
Now climb into the other boat and go to the lever that opens the exit gate (which is timed). To get to it, go through the narrow waterway with the gates you just opened, under the white, stone bridge, right down the next narrow waterway, then left past two ledges and a bridge. Turn left and you'll come to a doorway. Inside is a baddie...take him out from outside, then look at the large ramp opposite. At the top is a hallway with glass walls that can be shot out (you can also steer your boat up with speed and drive throught the windows, which is really cool, but it means you'll have to go all the way around again!). Go up and enter to find the Jade Dragon and lots of ammo (if you've found all three secrets). If you find the camera pulls away and won't come back, just tap the 'look' button.
Exit back to the room where you just shot the baddie. Search him for ammo, the press the button in the room to open the big doors. The timer starts once you start your boat up the ramp, so take your time to line the boat up on the left side of the ramp before you start to drive for the exit^. Then, drive over the ramp, up the large ramp ahead (keeping 'action' pressed the whole time for speed), head straight under the white bridge, take the left corner, then right, through the narrow waterway where you opened the metal gates, turn right and head for the exit gates to end the level!
